GM Conflict : Version 0.110

Background

For many years, Game Maker has been a suitable game development software. As of the 15th of November 2014, Game Maker will turn 15. As a result, we're developing a Game Maker Crossover Fighter where characters from Game Maker franchises come together to fight it out on stages from other Game Maker franchises!


Information and Controls

Changes Screen Resolution: 240x180 (You can make it bigger by pressing F4)

What are we doing differently?

As I said, we're doing a small target mark to start off. But as we hit new marks, we'll add more features. For example, at 5 characters and 5 stages we'll be adding an Unlock Shop. And at 8 characters and 8 stages we'll be adding Gamepad support so that more than 1 player can play.

We'll also doing franchise representation more differently here. We have a rule. The franchise can either have a character or a stage and then an item if they wish. Why are we doing this? Well think of it like this. Even though there are 4 characters and 4 stages to start off with, that's 8 different franchises represented. So if we did reach our final number of 23 characters and 23 stages, that's up to a staggering 46 franchises that can be represented!

As a final note, we'll only request a character once a sensible moveset can be made. One which also represents the franchise greatly.

What do we need feedback on?

As the point of the topic, we need feedback on stuff. It's not like the usual topics here where you just state bugs, say if you loved it or not and so on. We have some things we'd like to know. So we'd appreciate a reply if you try the most recent demo and answer our questions.


  • What did you think of the game?
  • Is the control layout sensible?
  • Did the Booklet Help?
  • Was there anything else we should know?


By answering these questions, we can produce a finer quality game. So please give feedback. Though before you try the demos, there's a few things you need to know.


  • The game isn't finished yet. So don't expect the game to be off the wall amazing.
  • We add Sounds and Music as we gain them. So in some cases it'll be quiet. Just gotta be patient!
  • The AI isn't going to be perfect. I'm not a master of AI yet. But if anyone can help with improving the AI let me know!


Demo History
Without a further ado, here's are the demos. I will be keeping an archive of the demos. Any struck through I have removed.

Version V0.09 (Added 14/11/2012) - Contains some of the Menu System, 4 characters and 4 stages.
Version V0.091 (Added 16/11/2012) - Contains feedback fixes
Version V0.100 (Added 27/11/2012) - Contains feedback fixes, the Lock Shop, 2 new characters and Alternative Outfits

How can we help you with the project?

Feedback is heavily needed to make sure the quality is great!

We also accept as much help as you can give us!

We need budding spriters to help us out! Programmers are needed too!

As for music, we could really need some composers to help out! I've got my sound composer to help with sound effects.

I do have a potential music composer on the lines but it'll cost money. So I may set up a Donate for anyone willing to help towards that.

All franchises and resources remain property of the original developers and owners. This project is entirely FREEWARE and for PC. This game is to celebrate 15 years of Game Maker and so will always be FREEWARE. We do go around asking permission to represent aspects of franchises. Only fair right?

You can play the game (and other Windows games too!) on OSX with that.

EDIT:

Tetiro, 2 news, one bad and one weird but somewhat good:

The bad news are that my lappy isn't recording quality audio for the audition.

The weird but somewhat good news are that this build runs on my old lappy, that means that I can play it on Windows2k with a PIII processor @800mhz and 128MB in RAM. o_O

Time for an update!

Version V0.091 (Added 16/11/2012) - Contains feedback fixes


  • 1st draft of the logo has been added
  • Booklets added to the .zip
  • Improved Fling Physics (The characters will bounce off walls and fling in the direction of collision)
  • The Up Key is now the Jump button (Yet to update the Booklet)
  • Game starts with a big screen
  • You can now return to previous players on the character selection screen by clicking their picture

Hey guys, it's been a while since I updated this topic. Which I'll be doing after I've finished what I'm currently programming.

So what has happened with the project? Well...


  • 19 characters have been confirmed
  • 18 stages have been confirmed
  • Gamepads are now supported (As of the next version I release, up to 4 gamepads!!!)
  • 6 characters in the current version (0.110)
  • 6 stages in the current version (0.110)
  • Lock Shop for unlocking content!
  • Alternative Costumes!


So much! I'll be updating the topic tonight!

Gets better! I'm working on the final aspect of gamepad support. So as of the next version, you'll get to be able to play with up to 4 players!

The next version also has Saru from Wild Hunters and the Tower of Heaven as a stage
