Combined on PS3 and X-Box 360 and I'm not sure if you're suggesting GTA IV is better because it has a nigher overall over a period of a couple of years vs GTA V's weeks, so I'm a bit confused there.

No, I meant that sources suggested that in two weeks, V outsold IV's lifetime numbers. I believe the third week hasn't been accounted for yet (normally it takes a week to count it up and find a good ballpark number), so I think those articles meant UK sales for both games. Though I wouldn't doubt after the third week is counted up that V outsells IV already. I mean, it's already close to beating most CoD games, without the usual Christmas bump the game will get.

These numbers come from vgchartz which is accurate when it comes to a game as big as GTA V. This is with the most recent update added to it.

Vgchartz is rarely accurate, especially since you can't find these numbers anywhere else. Not to mention the numbers are always, without fail, tallied at the end of the week if not the week after. That's what makes me think it's only thr first two weeks (since the first online update came out not too long after online).

That's because it is only the first two weeks unit sales.

Oh the way you worded it it sounded like it was to-date sales. At the pace V is it I couldn't believe 20 flat was the current number but definitely believable after two weeks. The Online bump could add a few million more easy.

Well, vgchartz updates weekly and when I meant most recent update I meant the update for the week. But, yeah, it will get a boost from the online and also Rockstar should have a fix for online today. Although, people affected by the glitch won't receive any benefits.

Well the character glitch isn't technically "real" since it's a matter of if they overwrote that slot instead of using one of the other four or so. If they did, sadly they're SOL, but if they didn't it's still alive.

Besides we're a few weeks off of the content creator and the first free DLC, so we might see an apology there.

Hmmm... perhaps, but with the recent change of companies giving free DLC(Guerrilla Games primarily with KZ:SF) I think Rockstar can do better with that billion dollars they made faster than any other entertainment platform ever.

It's just a matter of if they want to pack in a quick "sorry," perhaps early release of heists.

He forgot the third option where they delete the tracks from the game. The results of this option is he doesn't see a dime and Rockstar continues to sale the game.

Something seems off, doesn't seem like Rockstar. Anyway patch doesn't work, no way to guarantee consumers will dl and he's entitled to damages. But I doubt this is the full story.

Rockstar pays in advance. Like years in advance. So it's probably greed or a complete misunderstanding on his end.

The PS3 version has officially outsold the 360 version as I expected it would.

I wouldn't consider 60000 a big number when we're talking 23 million. Especially since you can expect a big amount of uncounted digital sales. But we'll see if the PS3 version is consistent in coming weeks; I expect the Christmas bump to hit the Xbox side much more, as it tends to do with multiplatform gAmes.

Even then, I'm still expecting this to favor Sony.  We will see how this turns out though.  Also, I made a quick update to game mechanics on my concept thread after doing a lot of math last night.

GTA V sold 29 million in the first six weeks after launch. At that pace, it should outsell Super Mario Bros (which was for a while packaged with NES systems); that would put it only behind Wii Sports (also solely packaged with Wiis) as the highest selling game ever.

It shipped 29 million units. Unless the new sells chart came in.
