Finally back from Hurricane Sandy

Post by VinylSolution on Fri Nov 02, 2012 8:32 pm

Holy shit, what a terrible week. How is everyone? Are there any NYers or NJians that were affected by the hurricane?

Horrid. I'm in the epicenter of it all. I still don't have power. Several friends of mine lost their homes. And my local gamestop shut down for a while, so I'm screwed out of the new AC3 games for a few weeks.

I hope that you're okay, and it's sad to hear that people lost their homes.

But welcome back dude. It's nice to see you around again. C:

Wow I wanted to see or hear from someone in the storm. Glad to hear your ok. How was it? Did you get "blown" away? But I wished that no one lost their lives or homes. Too bad that didn't work.

Wow, I feel for you man. I was extremely lucky. The electricity went back on after a day for me but, the rest of my friends don't even have it yet! Seriously, no floods and little to no collateral damage here. Just slow business and no AC3 for me yet.

Plus, not much has happen yet on the topic of All-Stars except for the beta being extended a bit since you asked.

Re: Finally back from Hurricane Sandy

Post by Count Mario on Sun Nov 04, 2012 3:15 am

Seriously though, I am truly, deeply sorry for worrying you guys, I didn't mean to at all. I am glad that you thought about me though, it truly means a lot. Wink

As some of you may have noticed, I took a drastic turn from coming on nearly everyday here to not appearing at all since last Sunday. This was because "Frankenstorm" hit my area and my power's been out for the whole week. In fact, its still out, I'm just staying over at my cousin's house for the night so I won't have to go back home with no heat, electricity, activities, etc. Every day has been pretty cold to the point where I have to wear a sweater and long pants, have to light candles across the house at night, and sleep downstairs because it was colder upstairs. Not to mention I couldn't take a bath the whole week since only cold water was runing with no heat working due to no electricity. At least my mom could still cook on the stove since it runs on gas. Worst of all, my family had to store all of the food in containers with ice to keep them fresh/cold and I couldn't play any consoles besides my 3DS and couldn't go online (I still have connection on my cell phone, but it doesn't have the internet installed so I could only talk to my friends/cousins to see if they're alright and text/talk to them to pass the time.) so I have literally had nothinng to do except replaying The Legend of Zelda: the Minish Cap and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island as downloadable Ambassador titles on my 3DS of course.

So basically, I have had to endure some significant changes. I'm not trying to make this a sob story and say my life's horrible now because I'm still grateful that my family, friends, and property are still safe and sound, especially since a tree in front of my house could've fallen down straight into my room like a bunch of other houses suffered. But I will admit that this isn't really a favorable position for me either. And some old buildings and structures I rmember like a house at the outskirts of Palisade Park have been destroyed, so there will be some lasting effects, I syuppose. Literally the only benefit I have recieved is that I didn't have school the whole week and probably not on Monday or even Wednesday either (I'm supposed to only have two days of schoolk this week) because of the slow progress of New Jersey reclaiming its power. But coming from a guy who has gladly endured sicknesses and other minor storms just to have one to a few days off before, I can admittingly say that I honestly would've preferred if this didn't happen and I went to school like usual because in my eyes, it just wasn't worth the cost in total. Especially since now there are even gas stations and buisnesses completely closed for the meanwhile and working gas stations have HUMONGOUS lines of people carrying gas containers if you drive around, along with some pretty heavy street traffic as well.

I hope this wasn't too long of a read, but I just felt that it would be beneficial to anybody who was curious about my experiences so far during this cataclysmic event. My power is reported to be returned sometime this week, but with the slow maintenence my Jersey City (Where I go to schoool) and Bloomfield (Where I live) are having, I don't expect it to happen anytime soon. All I ask is that I hope you guys outside nthe eastern US coast are grateful for what you currently have and continue to treasure your life's conditions, and thanks for the concern you guys have had for us NJ/NY citizens.

It's alright Slayer, my power actually came back on this morning and I came back home today, not to mention I have no school for the whole week except Wednesday, so I have plenty of time to actually have a fun break from school WITH electricity. :D

My father actually said that he waited three and a half hours in a line to get gas for his truck before picking me up from my cousin's house. :|
