Modems

Post by Jechtsphere on Fri Oct 19, 2012 10:51 pm

I was wondering if anyone knows.

My modem and router are on the other side of the house from my PS3 which gives my PS3 a rather weak connection. I have a phone line close to my room so is it possible to buy a cheap modem and have it directly connected to my ps3. Basically running two modems at once? Don't want to waste money if I'm stuck with what I got other than just moving my stuff closer to the modem.

My PS3 is on the opposite side of my house as the modem too. I actually went to Best Buy looking for a way to boost the connection without wiring my PS3 all the way to the modem that I have. Found a little thingumajig made by Net Gear that allows you to boost your connection while somewhat plugged into the modem. So, it's technically just a wifi booster, but it fixed my internet problems on the PS3. You can go to any electronics store and probably find something like it, but you do have to make sure that your modem is compatible.

After I did that, everyone in the house started complaining to me because the Net Gear box uses most of the internet, keeping something like an xbox or ipad from being fast online. lol

I have my PS3 horizontal, can you get a better connection if it's vertical?
