Since most people don't seem to be looking forward to any upcoming animes I will remedy this situation by shoving "Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below" down you throats. Here are two trailers for your enjoyment. The moive comes to the US in November

The animation alone should get you worked up. Makoto Shinkai≥ Hayao Miyazaki, in my opinion. His other works are fantastic as well here are there trailers.

The first movie, "Vocies of A Distant Star", Makoto Shinkai made almost entirely on his home iMac. The second movie, "The Place Promised In Our Early Days", is by far my favorite with "5 Centimeters Per Second" coming in at second place. Also note that the "Voices of A Distant Star" isn't as action packed as it shows, which isn't even that action packed.

Posting about Shinkai films and then listening to music form "The Place promised In Our Early Days" eventually led me to listening to the theme from "Grave of the Fireflies" which led to a Roger Ebert talking about the movie which has led me to this...

The entire movie in english dob and sub. If you are a fan of anime you should watch this movie and even if you aren't you should watch this movie. It can be slow at times but its worth it. As I said in my origional post, reviews about the movie state that this movie is a tear jerker. Well, I was starting to think that most people tear up to easy but the end caught me and I had tears in my eyes.

You'll get results typing Watashi ga Motenai(Way to long for me to copy and paste), but in english it translates to It's Not My Fault That I'm Not Popular!

EDIT:The Fall season is already starting with quite a few anticipated anime coming out this week. Anyone seen the Chuunibyou promo? It was a nice laugh and I have pretty high hopes for what kyoani brings us this season.

I love anime/manga and have read/watched quite a lot. But naturally certain shows/manga will slip by me. Is this a reboot? A side story? A movie? I'll check anything out, but if it's something that requires prior knowledge, I have a lot of catching up to do.

Note: In regards to Black Lagoon.

Re: Anime/Manga

Post by animeprophet on Mon Oct 08, 2012 2:03 am

Black Lagoon is a manga/anime that was created by Rei Hiroe. The anime follows the manga almost to exactly except that the sequence of events are out of order in the anime. This however doesn't matter since Black Lagoon isn't one contiuous stoyr arc. It is made up of mutliple story arcs that can be placed almost anywhere within the timeline. There are two seasons of Black Lagoon consisting of 12 episodes each, season 2 is called "Second Barrage". Roberta's Blood Trail is a 5 episode OVA that consists of the latest story arc from the manga. There are currently 9 of 9 manga volumes translated. The show is licensed by Funimation for distribution here in the US. The main characters are Revy, Rock, Dutch, and Benny.

Taken from Wikipedia
"The story follows a team of pirates/mercenaries known as Lagoon Company, that smuggles goods in and around the seas of Southeast Asia in the early to mid 1990s.[1] Their base of operations is located in the fictional harbor city of Roanapur in southeast Thailand (somewhere in the Amphoe Mueang Trat district, likely on the mainland north/northeast of the Ko Chang island or on the island itself).[2] They transport goods in the 80-foot (24 m) Elco-type PT boat Black Lagoon Lagoon Company does business with various clients, but has a particularly friendly relationship with the Russian crime syndicate Hotel Moscow. The team takes on a variety of missions—which may involve violent firefights, hand-to-hand combat, and nautical battles—in various Southeast Asian locations, even going as far as Phu Quoc island of Vietnam and when not doing much, the members of the Lagoon Company spend much of their down time at The Yellow Flag, a bar in Roanapur which is often destroyed in firefights." Black Lagoon Wiki

Edit: I hope this helps, I am quite bad at explaining things.

I love top quallity animation thats why I gave Makoto Shinkai's work a look when I first saw a Trailer for "5 Centimeters Per Second".

The last one is being released later this year. I didn't put up "Voices of a Distant Star" becuase the animation isn't up to par with the others but thats becuase almost the entire movie was made on Shinkai's personal computer.

sdprimetime33 it is great to see another Shana fan on here.Have you watched the entire series yet? Season 2, the movie, and OVA are coming out in December here in the US. The crappy thing though is that Funimation didn't get Ocean to do the dubbubg so it will have a entirely new voice cast. It could be a far superior voice cast and yet, to me, it just wouldn't feel right. I will have to get used to it. I have already upgraded my collection from the Shakugan No Shana individual 6 volumes to the Bluray/dvd combo pack. Even though the anime will have different voice actors it is still one of my most anticipated shows of the year.
