You get used to it. Why not give it another try, sounds like he last saw anything from it ages ago. You'd certainly have a ton to see.

Merric wrote:Yeah. I would have continued watching it or even read the manga, but it was just to weird for my taste. I think the art style itself is the main thing that threw me off though.

The animation for One Piece at this point in time is one of the best. As for the manga art, it's fairly good. The story though, I sincerely advise you to get back into it if you want an amazing storyline. The things that happen is just mind boggling.

Berserk is one manga that I have always wanted to get but haven't gotten. This is partly due to the fact that I just don't have the room to add a new manga series. I also have wanted to see the anime but I haven't done that either. On another note I am excited for the release of Shakugan No Shana Second coming out next month, with the moive, OVA's, and thrid season down the road. I have been waiting for the rest of this series to make it to the US for 5-6 years. Thank you Funimation. Although they it have a completely new voice cast... damn you funimation. Also, I know I am jumping around here, but can you give me a run down of the basic plot to Berserk?

Well if your gonna watch Berserk the original series is from 97 and that followed the manga although it pretty much gave a brief part of the first three volumes(The Black Swordsman arc) also a few characters were absent, Puck and the Skullknight and also ended without actually ending which is weird. Just this year movies of the Golden Age are being released, Viz is releasing the first movie in November I believe.

Now saying that the movies are solid but it's just too much content for just three movies to cover so tons is skipped but after the manga I can enjoy it as it's great to see Berserk. The manga is just superb. They also hinted at covering the stuff after the golden age.

intro

movie 1 trailer

movie 2 trailer[released in japan in june]

Now what is it about?

http://berserk.wikia.com/wiki/Berserk

Berserk is a manga series written and illustrated by Kentaro Miura. Set in a medieval Europe-inspired fantasy world, the story centers around the characters of Guts, an orphaned mercenary, and Griffith, the leader of a mercenary band called the Band of the Hawk (鷹の団 Taka no Dan?). Themes of isolation, camaraderie, and the question of whether humanity is fundamentally good or evil pervade the story, as it explores both the best and worst of human nature. Both the manga and anime are noted for their heavy violence.

Guts, the Black Swordsman, wanders around in a mediaeval world slaying demons as they are attracted to a demonic mark on his neck. To his help he has inhuman strength gained from a harsh childhood lived with mercenaries, a gigantic sword, an iron prosthetic left hand and the elf Puck. In his search for vengeance on the one who gave him the mark, he meets many interesting persons and creatures, whom all is affected by him in one way or another.

It's one of the more graphic manga's so if you don't mind that try it out. Sorry for the long post...I'm kind of fan lol

In closing here is one of the great most loved Berserk songs 'Forces'

Thanks. I don't mind graphic violence in fact I like when they don't hold any puches. The un-edited version of Tenjho Tenge can be quite graphic at times as well as Claymore to some extent. Another manga that really doesn't hold it punches is "Eden: it's an Endless World" and this one does it very realistically. If anyone is looking for a new manga to start reading I would highly recommend this particular one. Since I suck at explaining here is a link to someone who can talk and sing its praises better than me. CLICK ME CLICK ME!

If my username doesn't give a clue then let me stae for the record that I love anime/manga. I have a big pretty decent size collection of anime and a somewhat small manga collection. (if the thread does well enough I will post my collection) I first got inot anime back in the 90's when Toonami was first stared. I remember watching Tenchi Muyo, which happens to be my favorite series, and other like Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon (yes Sailor Moon), Zoids, Gundam, Outlaw Star, etc. I fell off the wagon for a while though then got back on during my Sophomore year of highschool by watching Peacemaker and Chrono Crusade. I can't really pick a favorite manga and am currently reading Ghost in th Shell (Darkhorse second edition) and then I will read Tenjho Tenge full contact edition vol.8. I have 3 stautes one is of masane amaha in witchblade form and the other two are the same, Hyakkisho Shion (Masamuhne Shiorw origional character). One is a special edition with a different color scheme. I have all the Tecnhi Muyo OST's and multiple other soundtracks from anime and games. If I had to pick an artist it would be a toss up between Masamune Shirow (Ghost in the Shell and appleseed), Oh Great! (Tenjho Tenge and Air Gear), and Rei Hiroe (Black Lagoon). The last anime I watched was, for the first time, "Grave of the FireFlies". Most reviews said that the moive was a tearjerker and I was starting to think they were wrong but then the end got me and I had tears in my eyes. Personally I haven't seen any good anime/manga adaptations but I am rooting for the Cowboy Bebop moive when/if it ever comes out as well as the Ghost in the Shell moive becuase Steven spielberg is going to be involved. My favorite quote from an anime is actually my signature, it's the last line in the Tenchi Univrse seeries.

I highly recommend people read the manga series: Battle Royale, and Btoom! if they are into a gory free for all kill fest with amazing story attributes to boot. Also, Btoom! will be having an anime adaption (we shall see if they do it justice or bail out like they do with most anime potentials.)

Jechtsphere you stole my picks. I was gonna suggest Cowboy Bebop and Black Lagoon.

I would recommend Ghost in the Shell. It may be Set in 2030 Japan but it not all Japanesy. it's actually a very realistic sci-fi. The show follows public security Section 9 whcih are a counter-terrorist network and anti-crime unit. The show also has an incredible soundtrack arranged by Yoko Kanno.
