PT pulled from PSN, Silent Hills likely cancelled

Post by DP on Sun Apr 26, 2015 2:34 pm

No links because I'm at work. Konami is taking PT off of PSN in a couple days (I believe Tuesday). Guillermo del Toro has apparently claimed at a Q&A panel in the past day that Silent Hills is dead, as sad as he is to say that.

Not a surprise considering how bad Konami is taking this Kojima breakup. All I know is Konami is on the way out now, nobody even wants to buy shit from them now that they fired Kojima and took his name off MGS.

Norman Reedus also confirmed on Twitter that it's dead. Konami has sealed their fate.

Edit: Konami has voluntarily delisted itself from the New York Stock Exchange and the SEC.

The fuck is going on?

I have a feeling the know that their stock price is gonna go down because of these moves.  I know there's other stock markets, but the New York market has the biggest influence.

They already dropped out of the New York Stock market, so that's not gonna be a big thing. More likely than not V is the final MG game ever though, unless Kojima can procure the rights before Konami goes mobile.

I know, that's what I was saying though that it wouldn't be big because their stock wouldn't drop in the most influential stock market.  As for Metal Gear, I don't think there's a chance that Kojima will secure the rights as he was probably forced to leave it behind as well as his team.  But, I'm sure he kept the name Kojima Productions.  The biggest thing that I can think of is that Kojima is done with Metal Gear after V and probably has no interest of acquiring the rights anyway.  I can only hope the new team that makes the new Metal Gear series is a team that cares about making good games and cares about Metal Gear.

There 99% likely won't be a new team to take over Metal Gear. Every indication is that Konami is going mobile for good. Rumors are that the teams have all been merged and that Kojima's team is being forced to quit soon.

Right around the time they fired Kojima, and a month before they started burning the staff, left the US Stock Market entirely, left the SEC (making legally licensing future games for US production a bit more of a hassle), and started an apparent push into the mobile/Japanese gambling game market.

Yeah...even if it WAS still going to happen, which I seriously doubt, it's not coming out here anyway.

Well, considering they're still looking for a team.  I imagine they're still gonna go through with it.  I mean, who's to say they don't make Metal Gear into a mobile franchise and call it, "Metal Gear Mobile?"

You don't know that they're currently looking for a team though. In this past month Konami radically changed everything it once stood for, fired the Vice President of their entire game development division, and methodically dropped out of anything related to console games. I wouldn't doubt Metal Gear goes mobile, but there's nothing to say they're still searching for a team.
