Xenoblade Discussion
So I picked this up for $45 about two weeks ago. Excellent deal, seeing as the disc wasn't even scratched once, and it came complete (even with a working Club Nintendo code!). I bought it purely because it was a good deal at that price, and because it's been hyped up as one of the best JRPGs of all time by those that have played it.
Going in knowing nothing about it outside of Shulk's name and a few small gameplay details, and having only played it for about 6 hours, so far I agree. It makes so many small but amazing changes to the JRPG formula (such as auto-finishing fetch quests for you so you don't have to return the item to the person that needs it), and thus far hasn't felt like the opening of a JRPG. Even from the very beginning it felt fun (whereas most other JRPGs take a few hours to get into and feel slow before you hit that stride), and I've spent at least an hour and a half just fighting enemies. Not grinding, there was no intention to level up there, I was just having fun with the battle system.
And then there's the game world. This game has SO much content, and is possibly the biggest non-randomly generated game world, period. It's immediately opened up too. Plus there's a dynamic day-night cycle, weather patterns, etc. This is a fucking Wii game. How the hell did Monolith Soft get THIS much content onto a Wii disc? It amazes me.
Anyway, has anybody else here tried Xenoblade? I feel like Chaos or Dragon would be the two most likely to have played it (I could see Blade having played it too). If you have a Wii or U, and like JRPGs, you pretty much have to own this game. Seriously.

Re: Xenoblade Discussion
I'm about to enter Colony 6 (just after getting Sharla), so I've only had four party members so far. Of them, I don't really have favorites, but the chemistry between Shulk and Reyn is pretty good thus far.

Yeah I've noticed already that she doesn't heal at all. Which is kind of strange, since she's a fucking healer lol.
And yeah, I'm really early on. I'm utterly amazed at how little of the story I've done; I'm literally spending hours just doing random sidequests - which isn't usually something I do in games. I feel like I'm a bit overleveled because of this but that's completely fine by me lol, I'll take accidental grinding over being forced to grind any day. The same thing happened to me with Ni No Kuni.

Re: Xenoblade Discussion
little early tip (no spoilers) when you get the colony 6 sidequest dont put it off for too long you get really useful items. if you ever are having trouble you can pm me if you want.
dont worry about being overleveled for your first time. The game gets alot tougher once you start getting more that 4 party members.
my favorite thing about xenoblade is the sheer size of the world its pretty much if you see a location you can go there, and also those hidden areas are so fun to find.

I could have gotten it if my Wii was not completely screwed by mods.

Screwed as in bricked? If so that sucks dude. But if you really wanted to you could find a Wii for maybe $20 out there; if you know a casual who owns it maybe even $10. Or you can go to Target and get the Wii Mini. That thing is so terrible but it's gonna be a collector's item one day, I can guarantee that.

Re: Xenoblade Discussion
I was gonna mention that too lol, but I figured at a budget price the Wii was the better option. If you have the money to spend, get a U.

Unless it's like 15 bucks lol. I'd pay 15 for a working Wii just to have one for my collection!

I mean it's like 40 everywhere but if you find the right person (I.e. Anyone over 40) you could snipe it cheap.

Eeeeeyup. Super bricked.
I could get another Wii but I really like some of the features the WiiU has, especially with the Pad (and a couple games). So, I'll just save up for that instead.

Re: Xenoblade Discussion
I didn't want to make a thread for this, so I'll put it here because I really wanna talk about it lol.
Xenoblade X is going to be five times as big as Xenoblade. That's five times bigger than the biggest stock/Non-procedurally generated map of all time. The reasoning is that your vehicles/"Dolls" (not fond of the name but I'll bite) are much bigger and have much faster travel speeds than the characters of Xenoblade did, and even having the same sized world would make X seem much smaller.

"Dolls" is a pretty common term for mechs. Usually bigger ones, actually. I remember it being used a lot in Gundam Wing and Turn A especially.

So Xenoblade X WILL have online elements. I'm expecting some sort of 4P Co-op at the very least. Also, it's still listed as Spring 2015 in Japan, so expect full localization to be forced through by the fall unless it gets delayed.

Every new Twitter update gets me more and more hyped for X. Apparently they've fulfilled their long-held dream of robots and humans coexisting.
