Trying to Get a Wii U

Post by BigBox on Wed Jun 11, 2014 5:42 pm

I got no money to trade in my PS3 and trade up for a Wii U and take advantage of the $50 deal GameStop has going on though.  Moral of the story is, life sucks when you don't got money. :(

I know that feeling. I wouldn't recommend trading in a (working) PS3 for that deal though. The better bet is to wait until they print a 25% off used games/accessories coupon. That's how I got my U (for about a hundred bucks off the price). Or you can seek out eBay when you do have the money, as that may be cheaper than GameStop if they don't run that coupon again soon.

I'm holding out for that coupon so I can get a PS4 for $300. With college approaching I really don't wanna spend money I'll need for food later.

That is true, I should definitely try and save up some money and keep an eye out for that coupon.

The last time they did it was on PowerUp Rewards ' weekly deal, IIRC. It was a "random" coupon for 500 points, which always dealt out the same coupon. Great deal, since the coupon would've been worth 25,000 points regularly.

That is a very good deal, especially since I don't have that many points anymore.

I actually bought three lol; i was hoping an inexperienced kid would give me 50% off but the manager had to take over. The other went to Pirate's Wii U.

If you can't find a cheap deal, I'd say go new. You can easily nab a bundle with a game for $300, and a used U is, as you likely know, $270 at GameStop.

I see, and you almost got away with it if it wasn't for that meddling manager. xD

I know what you mean, as for money I have no idea how people can even get hired in this day and age.  I'll look all day for a week and get nothing back.

Edit: Yes, I do follow up.

My brother had the same issue after the hardware store he worked at closed down. He only found a job recently, when he moved in with us and I put a good word in where I work.

A lot of it can be location; Jersey had no real place for a lot of work, but Pennsylvania is more forgiving on that.

Yeah, right now I'm living and California.  Which we all know has the largest population off all the states and the worst economy of all the states.  So, finding a job a really hard.  I had a job in one city I can re-apply to at any time, but I don't live in that city anymore. :(

Thanks, Arnold.

California is just too liberal for its own good really; that's coming from a moderate who leans left on many issues. The minimum wage raises, while completely necessary (especially in the highest-taxed state in the union), have many employers scared to hire.

How far away is that city? If it's relatively close, perhaps a bus or even train could help transportation issues?

When it comes to politcal issues, I consider myself more of an Abraham Lincoln Republican.  Although, I go do both ways at times.

The city is an hour away and the biggest problem is travel.

Hm. An hour driving, I assume. I can definitely see how transportation could be a problem. If nothing else opens up, I'd think a train to that old workplace would be a passable solution, if not ideal.

But I don't know California, so I can't really be sure if that's possible.

I would take the train, but there is no train route from where I live to the city.  Yet.
