For the record, I heard $10 from Gamefaqs. Europeans have the price of 7 pounds, which I guess translates to $10 or something. I don't really know for certain. I'm hoping it's around that per DLC.

When you consider Link, Villager, Isabelle, Dry Bowser, a Mario skin, a Peach skin (I don't count Dry Bowser quite as a skin), 8 new skins for Shy Guys and Yoshis apiece, 16 new tracks including some based on Animal Crossing, F-Zero, and Excite Bike, as well as new carts like the Blue Falcon, $20 is more than reasonable for the price of an expansion. I'd go as far as to say $30, but not more than that (excluding tax, of course).

I expected $30 total upon hearing this. It sounds, however, like $10 each and possibly $5 for the skin pack that comes free with the purchase of both DLCs.

And I think Dry Bowser will be mid weight since most of his body will be gone. Therefore as much a clone as Metal skins were (i.e. not clones). I expect Cat/Tanooki to end up being lighter but they should really just be clones.

It's only $12 for both packs. I'm elated.

Nintendo, please, PLEASE keep doing this. A ton of content at a cheap price, just like old school expansion packs. I wanna see this continue for Smash, and I'd wager it will.

So Nintendo just turned my Wii U on to tell me to buy the DLC. You can buy them both now for $11.99, as Pirate mentioned. Separately they're $7.99 each.

Odd that you can pre-buy DLC that comes out in ten months, but hey whatever. I'll probably throw the money at them in a few weeks.

Also, the color pack seems to be something you get immediately upon buying the bundle or both separately. That might explain the early pre-sale. (Also you physically can't buy the DLC separately if you buy the pack together or vice versa - that's pretty cool to do so that you stop people from making a mistake.)

Well, I'll change me plans from buying the Oracle games to buying these DLC and LttP on Wii U. Then I'll get some money back, as well.

God Nintendo, how you've pleased me the past two years.

this is some of the best DLC ive seen in years the only thing that beats it is EW and that's more of an expansion anyway.

I am wondering if this is it or if there will be other DLC packs at a later date. I suppose it depends on this DLC's success, but judging from how amazing of a deal it is i cant see how it would fail.

I can almost guarantee they'll add more. They wouldn't number the packs if they weren't planning more beyond 2. Plus, amiibo. By the time pack 2 hits we'll know for sure whether amiibo can pack a punch, and by then it'll be definite whether they'll add to MK8.

Plus I fully expect a Battle Mode DLC to fix that whole issue at some point just so Nintendo can cement 8 as the best MK to almost everyone (the standouts being Double Days and Super Mario Kart nostalgia fans).

waluigi pinball is unlikely since it was just in 7 (id love seeing it again though) and i doubt they'd redo wario stadium again.  I wonder if they would consider Cheese land, it was one of the better GBA courses.

I doubt Stadium too, because they chose the completely unrelated but also inferior one.

I could see a fan favorite pack with Pinball, but only that

Am I the only one that thinks the supersupport Wario is getting/has gotten in MK8 is significant? Maybe a new game on the way that's not terrible like Game & Wario?

You mean, another Wario Land title, DP? Last one we got was Shake It! in 2008 for the Wii, and the Wario Land games were always great and fun, and so was Wario World. Why the WarioWare games get priority over these awesome platformers to the point where they defined him with a new recognized look, I have no idea.

Anyways, still don't have MK8. Yeah, I know, surprising, blablabla. XD Might get it for Christmas though, I suppose.

Re: mario kart 8 discussion

Prediction: Nintendo will drop the price of the Wii U May 2015.

I was just thinking of the timing of the first DLC. I predicted November for MK DLC for months now, but May got me thinking. Splatoon COULD be out in May, but I doubt X will be as it's not gonna be a system seller. The timing has to be significant, as I'm sure the DLC would be done pretty long before that. Iwata said today that they're doing DLC right, and that they have no plans to take advantage of the gamer. They're playing up discussion of their focus on the core (Miyamoto), and they're focusing so much on timing lately. So either Splatoon will be out May or no other game will be out in May.

And we know by then $250 will be profitable by then, maybe even $200. The GamePad will still be included, because the GamePad games aren't due til post-E3 (bar Starfox). I can easily see them marketing MK8 as THE game to own throughout the U's lifetime. More DLC, a bundled MK8 (maybe with the DLC), at $250, would be the perfect time. And the perfect time fiscally too, as the fiscal year would have just started.

Diss the mess of a map known as SNES Rainbow Road all you want, DP. But we all know that its theme is entrancing as hell.

Why would they add a track JUST updated for MK7? I don't get it. That seems cheap to me. Nobody asked for that lol. I was okay with Music Park and shit because they were new (at least to me, no idea if they were themselves remade), but...really? Donut Plains 3 was enough SNES for the game lol. I'd much rather have some more DD or 64 stuff (as someone who hates DD's piss poor traction). Daisy Cruiser, Waluigi Pinball? C'mon lol

That said, yes, the theme is good. And I'll accept the one missed opportunity because literally every other track looks fucking excellent. Zelda and F-Zero alone were almost worth the entry price for me. I do wish we'd get more karts and parts though.

Okay so I've played four tracks so far (the Triforce cup):

I was wrong. I love SNES RR.
Middle of the pack syndrome is real on Ice Ice Outpost (even Red Shells aren't guaranteed hits on this track, interestingly).
Wario's Gold Mine is a great expansion of Shy Guy Falls in music design. And it's a fun, long track.
Hyrule Circuit is one of the greatest things I have ever seen in my gaming life. Turns suck on bikes though.

Will edit with impressionsof the Egg cup.

Blue Falcon is awful on Yoshi Circuit, but excellent on every other track in Egg Cup.
Excitebike is really fun. Very dangerous online for sure because of the straightaways.
Dragon Driftway is surprisingly excellent.
Mute City. Just...MY GOD YOU GO FAST. I had a half lap lead on 150cc. You can actually outspeed a red shell here.

The Master Cycle is pretty good for a bike. Bad turning in my experience.
The Blue Falcon feels SO powerful. Its only flaw is a very slidey drift (hence why it sucks on Yoshi Circuit).

Edit: Gold Trophies on both, 150cc. First try Egg, second try Triforce (because I used the Master Cycle and Link rather than my main).
