You also misinterpreted the entire announcement that Square made on the subject.

This is because Sony has been doing poorly fiscally since they entered the TV market, and because Square tumbled big time last gen with massive flops like FFXIV-1. Nothing more.

Wow, Nintendo really botched that one. I don't think it'll haunt them "for the rest of their days" like the lead dev says, but they're definitely beating themselves up on this one.

Microsoft has been really bad at supply vs demand lately. Even Windows Phones and their tablets have been overstocked lately.

Also, no link, but Nintendo announced a year-long marketing campaign for the release of Mario Kart 8.

Wow, they're actually DOING things. I'm impressed, legitimately. Should it have been free for apps earlier? Yes. But they at least got it fixed eventually.

They're gonna have completely re-work the interface to be used without the Kinect 2.  Also, this means the PlayStation 4 is also getting a $100 price drop to compete. :)

There are people that manage the One's UI without Kinect already so I doubt any big overhaul before the yearly November one that Microsoft tends to do. And if the PS4 drops price so soon and by so much, Sony would be leaving way too much money on the table. They have the momentum, and when all other factors are removed, momentum will determine which gets sold. (Plus, many of the factors are still heading Sony's way anyway lol.) I could see $349.99 at E3 just to keep piling it on against Microsoft, but the hundred buck drop is still a year off at least.

Mario Kart 8 sold 1.2 million in two days, hardware sales jumped 666% in the UK, and 82% of all UK MK8 buyers bought the Wii U bundle.

Maybe one game CAN save a console after all...

Okay, you need a time out*. If you're going to take a NEARLY 700% HARDWARE SPIKE lightly, you're senile. We're talking up to 70K more units in two days in England alone, and the second fastest-selling Mario Kart of all time. In three days, it alone has matched the best Nintendo has had to offer (besides 3DW, which is sitting nicely at 2 million, and the pack-in NSMBU). And this is a franchise that always has legs.

No. Just no. You might as well say Watch_Dogs will still be selling quickly this time next month year while you're at it

*Time out being a figurative term, not an administrative comment.

I had a feeling it was something to show in launch week, but since nothing was being reported.  I assumed it didn't exist.  Trust me, the only exciting news Mario Kart 8 will put is in launch week.  This I guarantee.  Mario Kart 8 was a change of news, but the Wii U is still dead.

What were you saying when the PS3 bombed until about 2009? Just curious.

And I will hold you to that guarantee, and laugh once next weekend hits. And when the holiday hits. And if (not when) Nintendo comes out with a statement about hardware sales soon. At most, based on economics, MK8 should've only added a boost of 1 million hardware units to the U over the month of June. England got almost 10% of the way there in three days.

It won't be happening anymore a week from the 31st.  I doubt Mario is going to be able to compete with CoD in the holiday season.  Those who laugh last, laugh best.  I'll be ready to laugh.

Re: 8th Generation General Discussion

It's not exactly competition. They're two different crowds, albeit with some overlap. Mario's proven before that he's timeless; the U's holiday sales last year showed that despite the fiercest "competition" possible in GTA V.

It's still funny how people keep pushing back the U's death date. First it was 2013, then 2014, now it's "in a year." With Mario Kart, Smash, and Zelda all out this year (Zelda's possibly 2015, but rumors have it pinned on 2014), we're looking at the exact kind of lineup that saved the 3DS in 2012 from a 2013 death. Nintendo is very back-heavy this gen, and it's leaving people left and right looking like idiots for doubting them.

And I screenshotted the post with your guarantee, should you delete it in the case that you're wrong.

anacondas "wiiu is dead" thing reminds me of the whole thing awhile back (that some people still try to justify) about pc gaming dying since 2000
remember those days my new gaming computer sure does

As I remember, it was only competition for the X1 which had almost no momentum heading into the winter season.  To consider Nintendo a competitor to Grand Theft Auto V is like a slap in the face and calling Trevor a "dumb ass" to his face.

I'm sure you can make the direct coloration between Rockstar and Grand Theft Auto V.  Like Nintendo to Wii U.   rocky

So Mario Kart is in your eyes competing with CoD this fall, but 3DW wasn't competing with GTA V last year?

Just give up while you're ahead lol. Your own logic is falling apart.

Grand Theft Auto V had no competition, and I also pretty much said that Mario is no competition for Call of Duty.  My logic hasn't fallen apart, because Call of Duty will have no competition on the winter/holiday season.

Re: 8th Generation General Discussion

Except Destiny, Sunset Overdrive, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Alien: Isolation, Evolve, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Far Cry 4, both Assassin's Creeds, Uncharted 4, Halo HD compilation, and Battlefield Hardline. Those are just the games of similar genre/userbase. That list doubles if we include other games.

So yeah, CoD totally has no competition, if we exclude every game that comes out later this year. You're still trying to directly connect Nintendo platforms to CoD, two groups which, I repeat, do not connect. Smash alone gives Mario Kart a big sales jump when that moves a bunch of units, and then there's the holiday rush of families who get it for Christmas. If Nintendo keeps the MK8 bundle that long too, the game is bound to hit 3-5 million by year's end (5 being the very extreme high of what's plausible, since that'd be a 40% attach rate to Nintendo's predicted 9 million Us sold).

But now's when you ignore everything I just said and use the same circular logic to try and argue that CoD is still the top dog (despite Activision itself saying otherwise both in words and in actions), and that Nintendo is doomed because you don't like them and things you don't like can't exist.

So, only Destiny is competing with Call of Duty.  Because let's be honest, games like Sunset Overdrive, Dragon Age, Alien: Isolation, Middle Earth, Far Cry 4 and the two AC games won't sell for shit compared to CoD and Destiny.  And, there's no way Uncharted 4 is coming out this year.
