This is literally the worst Call of Duty ever. How did it make this much? Only Call of Duty can get away with decreasing the maximum number of players I guess.

My faith in humanity died a long time ago though, so this didn't kill anything for me.

Despite the reviews saying its the best one yet, the general fan consensus is that its absolutely terrible.  I haven't played anything from the first modern warfare onwards (i remember playing 2 and 3 at a friend's house but that was before they really caught on and still took place during WWII)

Every Call of Duty review says its the best one yet. When you make so much money from making sub par shooters you can just buy them off.

2011: This Call of Duty is the best Call of Duty.
2012: This Call of Duty is the best Call of Duty.
2013: This Call of Duty is the best Call of Duty.

Of course it did. Technically every CoD since MW2 has. GTA V was by no means the first to do it, but they were the first to back it up with actual sales numbers. CoD makes a billion off of shipping to GameStop alone. From what I've seen this game is performing worse than BO 2 did, but since it's out on five platforms instead of three it'll get a lot of shipments on each. Take Two was from what I understand measuring day one profits alone, not pre-release retail shipment profits.

So yeah, this is just Activision trying to twist statistics in their favor. Nbd

Yeah it's still not even CLOSE to GTAVs retail shit. GTAV made 800million in SALES on 2 platforms in 24 Hours, Ghost made 1BN in Retail in the same time on 5 platforms. That is bad for CoD, the fans aren't buying it and reviews are mixed for a CoD game, which always get solid 9-8. This one is slightly below average and apparently has the problems of the old ones X1000. Plus the dog sucks.

Even though it launched at just the right time, now everyone is stopping GTAV for a while (read around people are getting boared they will come back though. ) and it's still gonna flop. The public have finally hit the CoD wall and it will go the way of guitar hero and tony hawk.

Well, looking at the number of 5 platforms, it kinda gets slimmed down because we know right now only 2 of those platforms matter.  PS3 and 360 as for the Wii U, chances it made a net loss of money on the Wii U because 3rd-Party can't make profit on Nintendo hardware.  As for the other 2 platforms, they don't matter that much either because they aren't out yet and I don't think they counted those sales with these.  I'm not defending CoD, I'm just putting things into perspective.

@Marko:  Before CoD became popular you have to think about what game used to smack it around, SOCOM.  If they Sony can make a SOCOM as good as the first and second SOCOM chances are they would most likely smack, CoD around again.

Called it. Hence why five platforms is an important note, Anaconda.

And SOCOM would never beat CoD in a straight fight. Too tactical for the casual shooter fan that enjoys CoD, console exclusivity notwithstanding.

Ahh... those bastards.

@DP: Five is important to note, but from what we thought we knew and know can be dissected as well.

The demand of a, SOCOM is very high.  Well, a SOCOM that's well made anyway.  Even with console exclusivity and even if it's just smacking it around on its home console.  It still counts for something.

Lol invader zim

In the campaign he appears 4 times and isn't noteworthy apparently. In MP he just gives away your position, a big deal without UAVs.

Anaconda if you read their statement it was obvious. I read the story on IGN they caught on fast. For once. The misinformation thingy was caught hours ago....dirty capcom....I mean Activision (force of habit)

when you think about it they are only saying they shipped. Out 1bn worth of stock not 1bn copies. It hasn't sold well so far.

Supposedly, it has sold less on launch day than blops 2. Activision blames it on digital downloads and next generation being the reasons it hasn't sold more.. yet.

I blame a cod wall. It's descending. People are done with it, blops2 sold less than mw3 at launch (not overall, mw3 didn't get big bumps plus no zombies) so it's starting. A lot of my year don't even know it's out they were cod mad! And theres little next gen hype too.

...you shut your mouth about that dog.

If they put just the nazi zombie section on psn for like $15, i'd totally get it for when friends come over but i would never actually buy one of the call of duty games.  I wonder what everyone is going to move onto since call of duty is on the way out.  Maybe destiny

i find it very funny that the pubs always blame phisical discs and say how bad they are for the industry because of used games and we should all go digital now when the game isnt doing as well the pub then blames the digital downloads XD

I think after, Titanfall comes out and people play it they'll realize it's just a Call of Duty clone and the interest will disappear before, EA knows it.

Mech. Warrior online has mechs. too, so does Killzone 3 but you don't see people blowing up for that.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts Nets Over $1 Billion on First Day of Release

Post by DP on Thu Nov 07, 2013 5:48 pm

Because Killzone was never that great in action (great in concept though) until Shadow Fall fixed the shitty controls. It also wasn't made by the guys that were directly responsible for CoD hitting big, and for every major innovation in the series besides Zombies. A multifaceted set of mechanics plus the entirety of old, GOOD Infinity Ward developing it jumps up the hype for a game tenfold. Just because it's currently not on PS4 doesn't give you any reason to denote it as a hype fad, and you know that's the real reason you're trashing it so don't even try to flimsily justify it.
