I was watching the movie on YouTube, which gave me this thread idea.

.... I remember Yu-Gi-Oh all to well. Why must you bring up a life in which I had abandoned years ago? Count, are you secretly the Pegasus to my Yugi? The Giovanni to my Ash? The Plankton to my Spongebob? The goomba to my mustached plumber  pissed Because if you are..

I'm also a fellow Yu-Gi-Oh veteran. But lately, I've been in a nostalgic mood.

When I was younger.. I had too many Yu-Gi-Oh cards to count. I remember going to summer camp and always finding at least 3 people whom I would befriend who would play and trade with me. I would watch the tv show every saturday morning, play the video games on my gameboy advance.. -_- I was a dork. And lets not forget my huge collection of pokemon cards and goosebumps books as well. When I want to collect something, nothing can stand in my way. Sigh, I have an addictive nature and it will be the end of me one of these days.

"you set off my trap card" is a quote that will stick with me forever and ever I fear XD

I was in a similar position, although believe it or not, I've never EVER been in a REAL Yu-Gi-Oh duel. XD I jut collected a hell of a lot of cards and was mentored by my older cousin about decks, strategies, and the series (which I watched all the time). I even had a whole binder filled with Yu-Gi-Oh cards, but now I have no idea where it went...

But please, do me one favor. If you have the time, watch this. Trust me, it's worth it.

It was the video that kept repeating itself right? and not my computer glitching out? xD lol ah god, that video brought back memories...

you wanna know something? Even to this day, I don't know how to play pokemon the right way XD
The way I used to play pokemon was my brother and I would grab a our "decks" (random pile of cards) essentially play a game of "war" but pokemon style lol. We would use energy cards to revive pokemon from the grave and just play using the highest damaging attack on eachothers pokemon until they died and the other person ran out of cards to flip over in their deck xD Thats the story of a 90's baby right there

lol I still don't even know how to play Yu-Gi-Oh the right way, but even I can usually notice when the anime breaks some of the rules. But it's cool that you made your own type of game out of it! Card games don't have to be restricted by official rules, as long as you're just having fun with friends.

And yes, it was the video. XD Here's another one:

lol I only barely learned how to play yu-gi-oh correctly by playing the gameboy game and even then I only understood it enough to beat the easier people xD but yeah, everything is usually better with friends. Damn.. this thread has got me thinking about my childhood now and how VERY different life was compared to now. I miss hide and seek sad

lol those videos are great

Yeah. Even now, I'm noticing how my childhood is slipping away. I'm one of the few adolescent teens who DOESN'T want to grow up.

And don't worry, there's more to come.

So... am I the only one who doesn't see why GX gets so much hate on the internet? I mean, it obviously isn't perfect and there can only be one "Yu-Gi-Oh" (and even then, the original show is arguably above mediocre, at best), and I can understand how Jaden might be unappealing, but I thought the show got some solid stories and developments done and Jaden was a decent protagonist.

I always assumed that the original and 5Ds was better.
As for Zexal, I dunno. I just don't like it. It looks unappealing compared to the other series.

As for the cards themselves, As the series progress more and more BS cards and strategies are being used. Seriously, I rarely see a deck that is not a freaking set like Blackwings, 5Ds dragons, Crystal Animals or Elemental Heroes. And some of the sets are super easy to get if you have the money. I think I've only seen one where it relied on using indirect damage from Monster, Magic, and Trap cards. I forgot what they were called but it was a pretty beast deck.

Wow you guys didn't knows how to play. Its pretty easy to pick up. Pokemon however I understand. That tcg is complex.

That said in my school as a kid there were two or three things going on every day. Pokemon walkthroughs and battles/trades in a corner. Yugioh duels everywhere.  and the occasional beyblade battle which killed people.

Blade that's nothing compared to XYZ bull shit. Just damm.

I stopped watching after gx just fell out with spending my pocket money on 3 euro booster packs.

Actually, my cousin has an Ancient Gear deck. And I remember actually having a Harpie deck when I was younger.

I completely forgot about Ancient Gear. There were at least 3 people in each school that had that deck.

I dunno, I played Yu-Gi-Oh until my sophomore year of high school so yeah, the decks I have seen became more and more popular.

And yes lpools, the xyz's are even more bullshit now. All you need is two or more cards with the same star level and bam, you have yourself a cheap ass monster.
