I guess it's all a matter of taste. I personally love where the manga is currently, the gore, the death, heck the gap between the good and bad is intensively increasing. I do miss Rukia though, she was a nice character. Now she barely pops up.

Yes and no.

Yes because the characters listed in that post are iconic and far more important to Shonen Jump.

No because Medaka Box is a recent and popular Shonen Jump franchise.

EDIT: Also, i'm no the guy making the post in the link. lol. That guy beat me to it.

Yeah. People did. I was also surprised that Arale wasn't the first female character to get a reveal.

yay kumagawa sure i still want yoh but these 2 characters are great they have some pretty unique powers witch would be intresting to play with and kumagawas personality is so abnormal it makes him hilarious
i highly doubt they wouldnt put in tsuna so dont worry there but i am a bit worried about bobobo and yoh

So anyway, if we get any other Medaka Box reps i think we COULD probably get at least one more.

New ASSIST characters!

A girl that looks like Moka (Rosario + Vampire) and some blond girl that i can't remember the name of. (They're probably form the same series)

Oh and Rukia and Boa seem to be assists.

Hancock is NOT an assist.

The blue hexagon represents the assists. The katana reads "sapooto," or support. This was present with Jaguar and Kumagawa and is now present with Rukia, Chitoge from Nisekoi, and Lala from To Love Ru.

However, Boa Hancock is actually playable.
Rant:

It's because it was voted in by Japan and of course, well, we all know Japan. Because she's the "Most Beautiful Woman in the world" in One Piece, she was put into basically every doujin in existence, and therefore, every Japanese teenager / businessman's hearts. In other words, she turned them to stone.

Okay, maybe that's just me being salty. But frankly, since she made it over Zoro, Nami, the other Strawhats, Jimbe, Ace, Whitebeard, Law, Buggy, Kuzan, Akainu, Blackbeard, Shanks, and Smoker, I think I have the right to be.

Okay, admittedly, she's about as important as a few of those, but 2 of those guys are endbosses, one is Luffy's Marine rival, one is Luffy's 2nd in command, one is Luffy's brother that really kicked off the end of Part 1, one is the token female lead, and one basically started the story. Plus Hancock's powers are perfect for an assist, and beyond those is really just melee. A Logia would've been so freaking unique... I know One Piece's rival isn't as clear a choice as Sasuke or Vegeta, but this is ridiculous! Gah! Nerdrage!

tldr; Hancock's playable over a bunch of other characters that are more important, more interesting, or both because hentai.
Ahem! I'm happy that Rukia is an assist because this means Ishida might be Bleach's secondary. Now he's really just gotta' beat out Aizen.

Um, are you absolutely SURE that she's not an assist? I mean, I would think that Boa would get more of a focus if she was a playable character. Not that I'm doubting your credibility, I'm just Saiyan.

Still, if she got in over candidates such as Zoro, Sanji, Brook, Franky, Ace, Blackbeard, Crocodile, etc...

Re: J-Stars Victory Vs.

I can't believe I forgot about Croco-boy in my rant!

Anyway, yeah. She doesn't have the blue hexagon and all the major weeaboo gaming news sites (Gematsu, Saiyan Island, etc) confirm she's playable. Resident Japanese speaker on Gamefaqs said she was playable too.

One Piece is up there with like Jojo's when it comes to the ludicrous variety in characters (aesthetically, conceptually, thematically, and in terms of powers and abilities), and to think that Hancock, who's relatively "plain" compared to them got in just makes me so fanny-flustered.

Not that I'm saying she's boring, but compare her to a talking / singing / instrument playing / fencing skeleton with an afro and an affinity for skull jokes, and you get my point. Still, she'll be pretty unique among this cast of characters I guess.

Re: J-Stars Victory Vs.

Post by Piratemankelly on Wed Oct 16, 2013 5:43 pm

One part of me really hopes so, because I'm such a big fan of One Piece, but the other, less biased part of me would rather have other, lesser series represented instead.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Fist of the North Star, Saint Seiya, Hitman Reborn, Shaman King, Bobobo, Yu Gi Oh, Dr. Slump, Assassination Classroom, Cobra, Buso Renkin, D Gray Man, Hell Teacher Nube, Tar-chan, Kinnikuman, Hentai Kamen, Luckyman, Rokudenashi Blues, Hoshin Engi, Ninku, Rise of the Yokai Clan, Sakigake!! Otokojuku...

There's so many other great Shonen Jump series I just listed a bunch of the top of my head with playable characters in mind, and I'm sure I could come up with at least a dozen or two more. Then there's like 20-30 great game or sports-based ones, as well as more girly, slice-of-life and darker mystery-esque mangas for assists. Light Yagami would be the ultimate support character to have.

So I really can't say I'd want a third One Piece character no matter how disappointed I am with this secondary because I think the love needs to be more widespread, and I would only feel selfish.

I'm only accepting a third One Piece character if it's Franky or Brook. If not, SPREAD THE LOVE, PEOPLE! <3

Yeah. He's right. Boa is playable. (I would have though Nami or Robin would have been the female One Piece rep)

A scan just appeared showing her with Medaka. (The other scan shows the new assists)

I was excited for this game until I heard about assist characters.  I didn't like them in the Naruto games so I always play with them off which makes them a waste of space, and I most likely won't like them in this either.  Thanks for wasting space and characters, I won't be buying this.

I don't really like the idea in general. Thee gameplay style seems extremely shallow (like the Storm games) and the fact that it's only 2v2 (+ one assist each team) hurts it even more.

I thought the same about Storm 2 until I finished the story mode.

Then when I tried to play matches for fun I realized how un-fun it was.

Having Medaka in the game is a +1 for me.

Having it like the Storm games makes it -1.

So, it's balanced in my mind again...
