Luckyman is at least known in japan.

Apparently Taro's series is even obscure in Japan.

While Taro is the most questionable choice, I still think Hancock was the worst one.

Luckyman looked awesome in that last trailer. Taro at the very least is... interesting, I guess? It makes sense they'd want to get more exposure for him, not that I think means he should've gotten in.
Hancock is cool and all, but she wasn't even a good One Piece representative. Luffy, Ace, and Akainu is a perfectly acceptable One Piece trio, and I as a huge One Piece fan, don't think anymore was needed after.

Yoh and Kinnikuman got the complete shaft. Easily, if I could replace any two characters I'd toss in Yoh for Boa and Kinnikuman for Taro.

I would've swapped Akainu for Blackbeard or Crocodile if they were really that desperate for a One Piece antagonist, but I agree, Pirate.

yeah yoh and kinnikuman really got the shaft both are from popular completed manga series (and shaman king has been getting a prequel and a sequel recently so its unusual they didnt want to rep it) makes me wonder if theyd be repped if they were still ongoing
we can always hope for DLC though (though the game probably wont be localised anyway)

No love for Yugi?

Having Yugi, Yoh and Kinnikuman would've made the roster perfect.

It's the only 3 series left that I wanted! D=

Apparently there was a leak for DLC. It implied Yugi and Dio. lol

Also, another character i'd replace Taro with is shonen jump's pirate head mascot. lol

Well, Akainu is set up to be a potential FB like BB is. He did
Thing he Did:
kill Ace
. So the trio of Luffy-Ace-Akainu makes perfect sense. Of course, by that token, Luffy-Ace-BB also does. I probably would've went with the Monster Trio of Luffy-Zoro-Sanji, or maybe the first three SH Luffy-Zoro-Nami if I really wanted that female representation in there. I could see Nami's weather control being AOE attacks actually being really unique for gameplay.

Honestly, though, most One Piece villains would be great for this. Buggy splitting apart, Crocodile just being his badass self would fit (as well as Arabasta being the level instead of Marineford). Heck, Enel was in a Dragon Ball Z / One Piece crossover where Luffy and Goku teamed up to stop him from destroying what I recall to be Odaiba.

The thing with One Piece is, while I would want to represent a solid Paramecia-Zoan-Logia set, there's not really a trio there that makes sense. Although, Lucci would be freakin' awesome. I could see him and Tsuna having great interactions, even though CP9 isn't actually anything like a Mafia. Just his suit, ya' know?

But my thing is that I like mental sets too much. I like for the characters to have some sort of strong relation. With DBZ, you have your Goku / Vegetas, with Naruto there's always the Sasuke, etc. With One Piece, I feel like there's just too much to represent at once because of my own personal bias. That said, I think Zoro is the most logical second choice, being that he's always shown as the #2 (Supernova, being confused as captain, etc) since there's no set boss rivalry, although my personal pick as the second One Piece rep would've been Smoker.

I mean, Smokey is the Garp to Luffy's Roger. I feel like he never gets any love.

ah i remember lucci his fight with luffy is still the most badass fight in the series due to the fact that neither side has to use any tricks to beat the other its balanced power vs power.
with the way haki works more fights could end up like this later in the series too which is great :D

It's not that I don't like Akainu, I just feel like at this point of series continuity, Blackbeard, Crocodile, or even Buggy would've been more understandable antagonists picked for the spot. but I'm still fine with it, especially considering how wonderful the One Piece cast is in general.

Black beard would have something unique for Brawlers.

Legitimate darkness manipulation.

Why does a compilation of openings to anime have all the characters that we're missing from this game? (Kinnikuman on the box)

And yes. This DVD is coming out along side J-Stars.

Are we forgetting how BB also has...

Spoiler:
Whitebeard's quake powers? That mixed with darkness could be pretty damn awesome.

It's either an insult or an apology or it's just an anniversary gift. Also, there's rumor going around that our first DLC characters are going to be Yugi and Dio. lol

So i decided to buy Jump Ultimate Stars and Jump Super Stars before i get J-Stars Victory Vs.

WORLD MAP! It needs Dio's castle still...that would be my choice for a Part 1 stage at least. Also add in the Colosseum where Joseph fought Wham.

Why can't it ever be easy? Must companies make things so damn difficult for everyone to enjoy something? (And I doubt they'll ever offer english translation either as a language option)

If it wasn't a problem, if Shueisha actually owned all the franchises represented then we would've gotten this, Jump Super Stars, and Jump Ultimate Stars.
