The DS games had assists and they were awesome.

I'd play it. If it did end up fun, which I'm hoping it does, it would be a good addition to my game collection. Buuuuutt, no US.

The thing with the DS games was it was a completely different style. A 2D sprite-based fighter / brawler? I'm sure considering the basis of this forum we can all get into that.

But this is 3D, like 2 combos, with assists (not actually a negative or positive, imo) stuck in one mode. Basically, this is Fanservice: the Game.

Well, some can also be fun, like the above mentioned DS titles. Smash Bros, All Stars, DON, etc. I also heard the Project X Zone was good, and I'd imagine the Shin Megami Tensei + Fire Emblem game will be pretty dec. at the very least.

Others, like this and the Storm games, are likely not to be and ONLY be fanservice, which is a shame.

I love how you're judging a game you've never played yet. Just because it has some similarities to a game you didn't like. Not a very fair judgement.

If it helps, a lot of people that talked about said it was fun.

I need to build some sort of basis for it since I've never played it myself and likely never will. I'll buy it if it gets localized if only to support Shonen Jump games in generally in the West, but as far as I can tell the only way I'll play it is through import. I'm not going to import a game that I don't think I will enjoy.

It looks like Gundam Vs Extreme, the Tenkaichi games, and the Storm games, none of which have ever made an impact on me of being anything more than shallow fanservice with a gameplay style I myself personally do not enjoy.

If I got to play it myself, my opinions might change, but so far it has not captured my attention in terms of playability, only in concept.

I expected them to be announced together at some point (Kagura's also a nice Support addition), but I was hoping we'd get a team of manly men first.

Kenshiro, Jotaro, Momotaro, etc.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this thread.

I thought it was weird they went with Jonathan and Joseph. I've always preferred Ripple to Stands (and Spin for that matter), but you'd think they would've made at least one of the two characters have one. No, Hermit Purple doesn't count. Like, Jonathan and DIO or something.

In any case, I'm happy with that since Joseph is by far my favorite Jojo, and assuming Kenshiro makes it the battle of the manliest can finally be played out.

Koro-Sensei looks really fun.

I think my favorite stage is the random city in Japan. I don't know why but it looks the best. (Plus Jonathan running around in a modern day city using Sunlight Yellow Overdrive on people is amazing)

Re: J-Stars Victory Vs.

Still probably won't import, at least not for awhile. If I can still find it by the time it gets cheap, then I might. Regardless, it's fun keeping up with it.

Digging the roster. Seiya, Yoh, Kenshiro are really the only essentials still missing, imo.

Based on the Anison edition, there's only like 6 songs left. Since each playable series gets a song, that means probably only 6 more playable series. Now, currently confirmed series can still get new characters, but personally I don't think any series (not DBZ, because that's what Westerners think is the greatest, and not One Piece despite being the most popular manga ever) should have more than two playable characters and maybe one support.

So I'm thinking Kenshiro, Yoh, Seiya, Yugi (yes, from Yu Gi Oh), Rikuo, and probably Momotaro or maybe Kazuki. Personally, I don't really want Arale playable. But as for Support, I'd want her. And Sena. And Taikobo. And Train. And Bobobo. And Light. And Hentai Kamen. And Allen. And Tar Chan. And Kinnikuman. And Cobra. And Fuusuke. And... you know what? A lot.

But if some currently playable series get more reps, I'd want OP's support to either be Nami or Ace. Zoro makes the most sense, I suppose, but Hancock got the second playable so we're throwing sense out the window.

Sakura is the obvious Naruto support, and I'm thinking Krillen for DBZ. Killua and Hayato would make the most sense for playables for Hunterxhunter and Reborn respectively imo. I'd rather have Kuwabara than Hiei for Yu Yu Hakusho, since I see him and Kurama as kind of a pair. I'd rather have Toguro playable with Kuwabara as support than Hiei playable with one of the other two as the third guy.

For Bleach, I'd rather have Ishida than anybody as the second playable, but Aizen would definitely be unique so I can't argue him. Renji would be acceptable, I guess, but Byakuya or Hitsugaya would be better. Just as long as it isn't freaking Kenpachi. Hate him.

Medaka's #2 would have to be Zenkichi, especially since Kumagwa is support. I don't really know enough about Rurouni Kenshin or Toriko to say who I think would be best to add. For Jojo's, I still think it's weird there's no Stand user, but Jotaro definitely doesn't fit a support role. Anyone else would look too out of place, especially DIO. Maybe Ripplers like Caesar or Lisa Lisa would be good. Heck, even Speedwagon would be a solid choice.

Then for some of the other, not confirmed series, well, I don't know. Raoh would be great for FotNS, although Toki or that slicey fingers guy would be good. Shiryuu and Hyoga or Ikki and Shun seem like good Seiya characters for this as well, or maybe Hades and Athena or something. As for Shaman King, I'm thinking Anna or Hao.

So i just remembered about the fact that there will be two versions of this game.

One without anime music ($60/70) and another WITH anime music. ($100)

Keep in mind that the prices are actually understandable since the music licensing must've cost some serious coin. (This is also including character licenses and hiring the anime voice actors)

The anime music version seems like it will be worth it.

Especially if they end up including Pegasus Fantasy. (Although it will also need YOU WA SHOCK!)

I know he's Tokyopop, but Ivan Isaacs from the Priest manga would be an awesome character for a fighting game.

Also, i just noticed Gintoki's stage has pictures of characters on the walls. So a character could've been leaked through that stage.
