Have any of you guys watched King of Thieves though? It adds a bunch of new characters (including Aladdin's dad, Cassim, who's a badass along with a new antagonist that would make for a cool boss) and new areas that it's the one thing that would make me want to go back to Agrabah. And considering how the first two movies were already adapted,  I say that we just get the third film over with and then move on to new worlds.

Actually, I'm not really sure what to feel about this. Didn't care for the first one when I saw it, and I don't really care about this one.

I believe its competing with Dragons 2 and The Good Dinosaur. Ohh boy.

Yeah Rio was ice age 1 quality so pretty good for blue sky (i.e. meh). But here comes the 3+ sequels.

It was because of Rio that Pixar scrapped Newt. Could've been a favor, or we could've missed out on a great movie.

By the way, did you know that Kung Fu Panda's apparently getting six movies in total? I only found that out a couple of weeks ago. And Dragons is at least getting three.

Yep. Six. And Jeffry Katzenberg's referring to "chapters" as movies in the context.

Because of the way that movie concludes there’s probably one more for them…Yeah, there’s probably a fourth there. Kung Fu Panda actually has 6 chapters to it, and we’ve mapped that out over the years. How To Train Your Dragon is at least three: maybe more, but we know there are a least three chapters to that story. There are actually 8 books… right now, today, we know that there are three for sure that we want to tell and there may be more. We haven’t thought, you know, how do we continue beyond that.

Well if they can produce 6 quality animated movies out of one franchise pixar can lick their boot (or not cause they have more than 3 good ips) But its gonna suck after 3 me thinks. And Dragons is weird. Sure there's 8 books but the movies are so different...and there's gonna be 10 books.

Well, considering the quality of the show (you've seen the best episode for yourself) and the track record with most animated franchises, I'm siding with similar doubts concerning the series post-three on this one.

As for Dragons, Dreamworks can't fuck it up. They just can't. I'm actually even enjoying the show a lot more than most modern shows and even consider it to be close/on-par with Regular Show and Adventure Time quality (like you've actually said in the past). The only two classes above that are 90's/early 2000's shows and Avatar. Dreamworks needs to know its boundaries.

I doubt three as well. Considering its a cliche finding your dad story most Likely.

And glad your enjoying it (how far in are you?) But it is possible. Remember its DreamWorks....however there is something key here. Everything causes story progression and character development. After panda 2 I felt the status quo was 100% restored. Little to know change bar the set up for 3. Good movie but missable. But even the show moves Dragons along what with Alvin, Mildew, and Stoicks dragon (and gobber getting one in season 2)

Episode 16.

And you're definitely right about Panda. That's one of the reasons why I liked Dragons so much out of all of most animated movie show adaptations, and you can clearly see that these changes are going to last throughout the series. They aren't as major as a new movie of course, but it's still noticeable progression. If you watch episodes of Panda though, it's just  one of those shows with random situations and barely anything is consecutive. I tend to despise shows of that fashion. However, when I said that Dreamworks can't fuck it up, I mean that I don't want them too. Not that I was saying that Dragons is perfect and can't go bad because any type of media can.

I must admit if what they say is true and the teams for the show and movie are really that tight knit it should be good....oh warning season ends on cliffhanger.

Sort of figured that, given how season 2 is called Defenders of Berk and how first seasons of conseuvtively-woven animated stories end on cliffhangers. A lot.
