LoL player arrested for sarcastic comment

Post by BladedgeX on Sun Jun 30, 2013 10:02 pm

Article Source

Basically some kid said some dark humor, some chick from Canada got offended, tracked the kid down, called police, and arrested him for some apparent reason. He's going to jail for 8 years.

And shame on that girl for reporting the guy for such a stupid reason. I'm embarrassed that she's even Canadian.

Hm, well it's a dark sense of humor that's for sure. Eight years of imprisonment is utterly retarded, and I do think the reaction of the person on the other end is a tad extreme as well. Yet, even taking those two things into account, I think it's reasonable for the police to pursue it, however I think a warning is sufficient while informing the child or grown up that the current events in society deem that very, very poor in taste.

You can't really be a total asshole and then think "lol" and "jk" are going to make it all better. Clearly it rubbed the one person off the wrong way, and since it's a basic article we don't know why. Could be something as severe as they know someone who lost a family member due to a shooting, or because they have a bug up their ass.

This just goes to show we aren't all that safe on the internet, and being twats online because nobody can punish us is no longer valid. Hm, I found a positive, not bad Chaos, not bad.

Wait... Esper... Where have I heard that name before?
Can you read minds? lol

Anyway... Not surprising. It's just that nobody ever really reports each other for talking others down and such.

I'm infinitely amused by this development, yet at the same time concerned. While I feel what the guy said was inappropriate, douchey, and enough to get him under at least some suspicion, I think the punishment he's getting is far too long.

What the ass does feminism have to do with anything in this situation, lpool?

You would be surprised by how much feminism can tie into various subjects, Kiwi. VERY surprised.

And to be honest, I'm not going to be one of the many to just say, "Oh that's some dark humor and it's reasonable for suspicion. That guy was a complete idiot." because even I can admit that I can talk vulgar. I mean, I probably wouldn't go that deep on a random encounter while playing a game, or personally with a random person I don't know well in general, but you get my point. He should've of course shown more restraint and common sense, but I'm not going to say that I would never do or have done anything like that.

And yeah, the possible sentencing is just overkill and the person who reacted (who wasn't even a part of the conversation and didn't even live within the same country) went extreme (and personally, if the person who reacted so badly went through a traumatic event, I personally wouldn't feel sorry but look at them as biased and expressed some form of "prejudice" in reporting them. Feel free to label me as a jerk, but that's how I'd honestly feel). I can't really say much else new for this topic.

People tell me that when I get into it I don't sound like myself and instead am very vulgar and, even sometimes, somewhat of a sadist... Weird... lol. But, so far, I haven't been reported. Wanna know why? I'm a teen. They know I'm a teen and don't mean a lot of the stuff I say. I make it very clear to those people that I'm joking most of the time by using certain choices of words.

But outside of games, I'm probably the quietest guy people know... Or rather, that the few who actually try to talk to me know... I must have a giant "FUCK OFF" sign flying around my head or something telling people to just leave me alone. lol

It's freaking weird, ain't it?

I haven't ever been made fun of by assholes straight to my face and the only people that are my friends are the people that I either talked to first or were brave enough to break my silence during class and whatnot.

That's not to say that nobody likes me. In fact, most enjoy my company when I'm actually being social...

I did talk to somebody one time though, and they asked why I was so quiet. Answer? No point in talking if you've got nothing to talk about. I only talk when necessary. But online? Online is different. Obviously, it's a lot easier to talk online than it is face to face. For me, it's because I can state my opinions and nobody knows who the hell I really am... It's amusing.

I'm tired but can't go to sleep. Why am I still on here?
