Saw this trailer yesterday. I was hoping that Marvel LEGO characters were going to be in too, but then I saw the WB logo and went, "Oh well". I think it'll be decent considering the quality that LEGO is. It'll be a hell of a lot better than what the Phineas & Ferb Marvel episode will probably be, at least.

Count, WB is also publishing the Lego Marvel game. So yeah, don't count that out yet.

Hm... well that's a bit surprising. Makes sense though. Still, I want to see Marvel and DC superheroes in the same movie. Even if they're legos. Sort of need to see it to believe it though, as petty and minuscule as that is.

^ That'd fall under where Marvel is.

I think this looks good. I like the use of actual Legos and special effects/stop motion instead of just CG and whatnot. And it looks funny. So why not?

This movie was absolutely hilarious. I loved it. It's just like old cartoons in that kids will like the pretty colors and stupidity, and adults will laugh their asses off at the humor. Plus, they got so many actors to reprise roles (Harrison Ford as Han, Morgan Freeman as God - well...sort of), so it felt so fitting of all my expectations. And a sequel (inevitable) is hinted at but also completely facetious. This is a VERY rare case of a movie whose sequel I will be eagerly anticipating.

I seriously doubt you read any of what I wrote before looking at the thread title and posting an opinion that doesn't add anything to the discussion. No whys, no reasoning, just you saying something for the sake of saying it.

Let's not make that a habit again, because if we all did the same we'd have about thirty of "I'm not buying this" in several threads, and the quality of posts would drop greatly overall on the forum. Even if we all know your reason is because it's too kiddy-looking to you, elaboration is encouraged. Thanks.

I did read what you wrote.

I assumed that's the vibe that one would have received.  I'm not exactly in an elaborating mood a.k.a, I'm a bit tired.  However, I can elaborate later if you would want me to.

Re: The LEGO Movie

I watched it today. Definitely the best movie I've seen in an extremely long time, including Frozen (which is totally overrated). I'm not sure what to think about WB just pushing out the sequel though. I mean, even Disney had some self-control over not announcing a Wreck-It Ralph sequel on the spot so far. But a plot for the sequel can work, especially going by the movie's ending and where the writers could go with it.

Re: The LEGO Movie

Part of me thinks that's a total joke, because there isn't much you can take seriously in the film. I can't see a film based off of what's hinted at anyway, so a sequel (which WILL happen, we all know it will) would probably be a different plot.

And I'm going to directly contradict myself by saying it might NOT have a sequel lol. This was fanservice in every way, and while it's profitable to do fanservice, Lego has been very good with its brand, so it could easily be a one time deal. That's mostly a 1% chance though because of the shit ton of cash they're making right now.

Re: The LEGO Movie

Post by Count Mario on Sun Feb 23, 2014 1:13 am

Of course lol. That was my initial reaction as well. It sort of ended in a similar manner to how Incredibles' ending doesn't mean a full sequel, just more adventures in general. But then I started thinking and even if the plot doesn't circulate around that, it could focus on the general theme of:

Spoiler:
Bad creativity and destructive tendencies with toys and such. I loved how the LEGO Movie portrayed the demographics of LEGO users in terms of being creative, controlling, and having no major talent at all/sticking with default builds, but the sister sort of brings it full circle by possibly having the major threat (or at least the way it seems) coming from, say, incomplete/atrociously created LEGOs that (in a perverse prejudicial view) "shouldn't exist" and just wreaking havoc all over the place with sets and such and literally breaking the LEGOs. It sort of reminds me of Sid and his toy from Toy Story 1 with this vibe. I'd personally really like a to see how the sequel would handle that theme, even though it most likely wouldn't follow from that slight cliffhanger. This is sort of what I meant to say lol, not that it'd directly follow from that ending. Like how Toy Story 2 foreshadowed Toy Story 3's general plot, but it didn't take place directly after chronologically.

And didn't you hear? WB literally already released a release date for the sequel for 2017. XD
