True, but do we have to discuss it on the forum?

Here's my impressions of that gameplay:

I really like the idea of the split second of slow motion before you trigger an alert.  I always thought it was kind of silly how if one person saw you, the alert would start and THEN he would tell the rest of the base.  Technically the alert shouldn't have started until he AFTER he called it in.  So i like the idea of this

I'm sure you will have the option to turn on exclamation points.  Some articles claimed they were there

As for regenerating health, i'm not sure how much i like that.  I know its been in the series since MGS3 but was very very slow.  I hope it doesn't work like a traditional shooter in that sense.

One last thing, i still don't think sutherland is the voice of snake.  Not only does the whole thing seem fishy, but we have yet to see the snake's face while sutherland is talking.  It's always the back of his head.  For the demo that kojima showed the media in this impressions video, they said kojima made a custom mission to not give away spoilers, meaning its a mission that's not actually in the game.  Couple that with the fact that the reporters said sutherland sounded "phoned-in" in his delivery (they probably got him to record everything on one take), and it sounds like a plot worthy of kojima's standards.  Why would kojima go through all of this trouble?  Because the news of a new snake voice actor showed up front page on every gaming news site and even a few non-gaming news sites.  Its a fantastic way to get the knowledge of the game out there

I wouldn't be surprised if that was indeed the case, Marko. Kojima is definitely the one that would let this all go through and then at the last minute come out with some huge revelation.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V/Phantom Pain/Ground Zeroes Discussion

So, David Hayter has expressed why he will not be looking forward to and playing MGSV:

Gaming Everything Magazine wrote:David Hayter, previously the longtime voice actor for Snake in the Metal Gear Solid games, doesn’t intend to play the series’ latest entry. Speaking with @Gamer this month, Hayter was asked if he’ll miss the role of Solid Snake and whether he intends to experience the game and told the magazine:

David Hayter wrote:“Yeah, very much. [And] no. Why? Because it’s too disturbing for me to hear somebody else doing the voice of a character that I played for 15 years. It’s just – I don’t think I would enjoy that.”
Now, we've also got Debi Mae West, Meryl's VO, who was on a segment of IGN's Up At Noon:

Gaming Bolt wrote:Debi Mae West appeared on the recent IGN Up At Noon to discuss any and all things related to Metal Gear Solid. While she expressed confusion as to Quiet’s design, West was genuinely surprised when she found out that David Hayter would not be reprising his role as Solid Snake in the fifth game, eloquently asking, “What the f**k is going on?”

Debi Mae West wrote:“I had no idea. I don’t get it. Honestly, I don’t know if anyone knows this story but when we did the first Metal Gear, they were going to re-record it and David actually asked for some money because he deserved it. We all deserved it and they didn’t want to pay us any more than the regular voice over rate. He challenged them to match his voice and they couldn’t. And that’s the thing – he is that character. So I don’t understand…is Kiefer gonna try to sound like him…I mean, I get that their voices are in a very similar place…”
We've got a bunch of people that basically don't have a single clue as to what's going on, apparently.

So it looks really good.  like really really good.  The only thing i'm concerned about is whether or not the slow mo will make it too easy to avoid detection (i'm sure there will be ways to make it harder in-game though) and i'm still iffy on the super-fast regenerating health

so let's get some crazy (but also spoiler-rific) conspiracy theories going on in this thread.  For example, a lot of people think that punished snake isn't actually big boss

Here's a bunch of gameplay.  Also, for those of you who haven't heard it, the first few seconds show what kiefer sutherland sounds like as snake.  I'm still not sure if i believe it though...

Anyways, enjoy!

In a lot of parts, people have been saying that Kiefer Sutherland sounds "phoned-in," as in, the quality of the way he sounds is really bad at times... Just saying some things people are talking about. That, and the thing that happened a bit ago where basically every other voice actor/actress was surprised to find out that David Hayter wouldn't be Snake.

Again, the whole thing is just weird to me...

Be the judge for yourself.  After finally hearing him, i agree with those people completely.  He just doesn't sound like he cares.

Good to see the series modernizing a bit more. Repeatability is BIG in a world where there are dozens of worthy $60 games a year even if one isn't a niche fan.
