I can easily see the CGI in God Of War being awesome where as Mario going Live Action was a fail from the start...I think that GOW commericial "Ashes" showed a lot of potential and if we can have a giant green roided super human freak attacking a horde of aliens from a godly world, we can have a white guy with red stripes ripping apart a couple enemies and giants that are out of this world. No offense to you Count but you're really not giving the CGI of today enough credit. I don't really see how the acting would be any different from any other film and the same goes for the cosplay.

We're talking about the CGI that has made giant robots from space be on Earth and look believable or a bunch of superheroes save the world countless times. IT CAN WORK!

Bioshock is floating around somewhere in the Universal Studios archives, as well as a few other video game movies that were never made, but are also in other companies' hands... Some of which include the likes of Castlevania, owned by Crystal Sky Pictures, God of War, owned by Universal, etc... Most of these movies were cancelled due to the fact that to recreate such a thing, would cost millions and billions of dollars...

A God of War movie sounds like a really bad idea, but Metal Gear and Infamous would be great!

Maybe it's in the style of a faux documentary, maybe like Behind the Hero in Going Commando. Then that could tie into the documentary almost ending (in like the conclusion of the documentary) when R&C have to run and save the galaxy again or something. I'm still not all that fond of the idea, but that'd make sense for Qwark not being evil throughout the plot (since he may have wrote the documentary or something).

Anyway....I think that this is both dp. its an adaptation of 1 with 2+3 elements. But its self contained it will not effect the games. I dunno. Time will tell.

Whenever I think for a God of War movie, I think of that cheesy CGI Kratos from the Michael commercial that looked so freaking fake. The Ashes trailer was good though, but I still maintain my judgement. I need to see a trailer myself in order to get convinced for a live-action GoW film, because it really just looks like another horrible video game adaptation in my mind. I'm not saying that the CGI can't be good because LotR and Life of Pi look spectacular, not to mention Thor and Avengers. It's just that there are also plenty of bad CGI movies with barely any effort also. As for the acting and cosplay, they can really go either way honestly. From either being epic and memorable to being cringing beyond belief.

It's not the CGI itself that I doubt Slayer. It's the possible hands that could make this movie that I doubt. Surely you can understand that, my friend. worry

And that sounds interesting DP.

And you know, what if a Sly movie's made in 2D like the Thieves in Time cutscenes? I honestly wouldn't mind that at all.

Those points are why I think this will do so well. Its an r&c script with r&c visuals and r&c actors. THIS CAN'T GO WRONG.

lpool, there's always a chance dude. Always a chance... You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. I mean, I'm personally sure it'll at least be decent, but I'm just trying to provide a grain of salt here for expectations too high.

lpool, I read over your calcs...

HOW COULD YOU FORGET TO SQUARE THE BINOMIAL OF THE EQUATION BY SEVEN ZURKONS AND THEN DIVIDE BOTH SIDES BY THREE TITANIUM BOLTS?! BY MY CALCULATIONS, THIS MOVIE NOW HAS A NEGATIVE 38820283290% OF BEING SUCCESSFUL DUE TO YOUR MISTAKES! what

You know, do you guys think that there's a good chance for Kevin Michael Richardson to reprise his voice as Drek? Sure he hasn't voiced him for over a decade, but he's voiced and appeared in countless shows, movies, video games, etc. Really, the only notable voice change in the series was Ratchet in Going Commando and that was mainly due to the criticism towards his attitude in the first game.

It's likely. Richardson is a known bro, and loves voice acting in general. I also believe I remember reading that he absolutely loves the R&C series as of 2009-10ish. He also happens to be a good fan of a former Insomniac franchise, as well, having performed for I believe every single console Spyro game (including both Skylanders ones). Why doesn't somebody send him a tweet to see if we can get a hint or possibly a blurt that he is returning?

Sad news, at least for now:

Edit: Okay, embed lied and told me it would also embed the parent Tweet. When asked if he was contacted to reprise Drek, that was his reply.

Well, Insomniac is still looking for other voice actors (most notably celebrity talent), so there's still a chance. It'd be a shame if he was replaced, but I could deal, I suppose.

We know he's willing, so hey, that's good news. I just hope they capture Drek the same way that Richardson could. In related news, TJ Fixman noted that he loves the modified Drek, using a #evil, so maybe the movie Drek is more sadistic or something.

Re: The Ratchet and Clank movie

I think you're kind of underestimating Drek's potential appeal, lpool. Most kids don't listen to half of what they see in video games through dialogue and story, really. Just because it's for kids doesn't mean it has to spoon feed them. Just look at most Disney movies. Do you think kids understood Scar's rooted ambitions to usurp power because of his jealousy for his brother and his superior traits? I could even point out Frollo, but mentioning Hunchback itself is pushing it. I can easily see him being "more evil" by just acting like his usual sadistic self from the first game, but just causing more havoc like not showing mercy to his henchmen or test running his deadly weapon on one or two planets ala the Death Star destroying Alderaan.

I never understood why kid movies always had to, well, be kid movies. If that makes sense. I mean, of course it's going to be goofy and such. But from the annotations I've seen, it looks like there's going to be a bigger focus on Ratchet's character development and a general theme on morality presented.
