Re: Ratchet & Clank Discussion

So, I beat Ratchet & Clank on Saturday night and bought the RYNO and most of the Gold weapons using the infinite bolt glitch (I was just two Gold Bolts short on the Gold Pyrocitor, so I might go back and fix that later on). Since then on the same day, I've been glued on to playing Going Commando. Right now, I'm in the Megacorp armory on Planet Todano and the world's theme is probably one of my favorites in the game. Seriously, this series really has gotten me back into gaming after beating Infamous 1, and I'm pretty damn glad. I should be able to finish Going Commando by Sunday at the latest.

So lpool... will you still keep judging me now?

Going commando is a solid game, for me personally my hype for Ratchet and Clank died off after the third installment. Once I played Deadlocked, I felt like it was done. I still love the franchise, but all of the releases this generation I've played it without really feeling attached.

Time to necro this thread! (Trey, for the record, that glitch in SA is escapable, but only with cheats, which ironically cause that glitch. I found a way out of it using Adrenaline mode, actually.)

So who here has played FFA? I'm looking to get back into it now that I have interwebs. Assuming people still play it online. I hope they do, because I never got the chance to get my dose of it.

Oh, there's no need to remove the trailer here, of course. I'm gonna leave the movie thread open simply for a more specific discussion for that title, since that'll pick up greatly and distract from the game aspect of the series, represented in this thread. If any of the other staff members have an issue with that, we can merge them, but since the movie's not a game I'm gonna leave it be for now.

Mod stuff aside, I'm really glad that the A4O artstyle has grown on me since FFA, because it looks downright gorgeous in the bit of the trailer I watched so far. Just thinking about A4O's style in 60fps on possible future (PS4?) games has my mouth watering a bit.

I would not recommend Ratchet and Clank FFa though the idea of co-op was good the overall game felt very bland and repetitive not to mention the net code is trash me and my friend disconnected several times -_- good thing you can keep inviting.

Personally, it felt as repetitive as any of the other games to me, but with a very fun multiplayer component. Although I can't really vouch for or against the netcode since I didn't play much online in the game itself. I believe it runs on host, which is never good outside of some CoD matches. The beta ran well though.

I haven't played any of the new R&C games. Last one I played was Tools of Destruction, and I was quite disappointed. But I am thinking about trying Crack in Time, because I heard that that one is a LOT better.

Well, I guess the reason I didn't like Tools of Destruction was because it was just...lacking the charm of the first three. Plus, it didn't bring anything new to the table. I never saw what people loved so much about Tools of Destruction, I thought it was one of the most disappointing games I've ever played.

I loved Tools, actually. Even in 2012, five years after launch, it's still an excellent R&C game. An evolved story, good R&C humor, and some of the most spectacular (the literal definition) levels in the series, as well as one of my favorite weapon evolution systems in the series, all make a graet game to me.

its my favourite r&c game. actually its my favourite game of all time. everytime i played it i found myself smiling more and more until i said "This is better than uya isn't it?"

the weapons were fun to use, felt insanely overpowered in challenge mode yet on the first run the game is one of the hardest in the series. the raritanium system was great, i loved collecting leviathan souls and exploring with the robo wings. and the cliff hanger.......no cliff hanger has matched that. the story in and of itself was gut wrenching (HAH WRENCH!) just cause ratchet looked...broken, so many times. Fastoon, clanks death twice...he felt sad. world weary. despite the show he put on at parts. the duos relationship wasn't painted as all rosey for the first time since the first game at least for as long a time period as they were at odds. the gadgets were unique enough. it just felt right. hell i even enjoyed the space pirate..umm space missions. i like on rails stuff and the music was excellent. the environments (Stunning by the way) felt more like an R&C game than CiT. it felt more like a R&C game than CiT. it holds up even now easily.

and as for bringing something new... they said that around insomniac offices once.

this happened.

and this

so in ratchet terms new = bad. mostly. gameplay should remain unchanged with minor tweaks. not a genre change.

FFA was pretty damn good, if you don't act like it's a $60 game, which it's not. I just wish the servers were more active.

you need to beat tools and qfb first to get the full enjoyment but it can be played stand alone. and yes well worth it.

You don't need to play QfB, by any means, because they summarize it in the beginning of CiT (spoiler: Nothing happens). But CiT is absolutely fantastic. The first real jump forward in gameplay that the series had in years, as well as the best graphics in the series (to this day it's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played). And it has one of the most emotional stories in the series as well. Honestly, I still can't fully decide my order of the R&C series, and I beat CiT over a year ago. It's that good.
