Snow Storm

Am I the only Northerner here having to deal with this snow storm right now? Things are going to get cray cray over here.

YAY Plenty of snow to be dealt with here, pretty much everyone has been shoveling their driveways every hour or two. Cars drifting on roads and needing to be given a push start to even drive.

Winter

There's a road ban going on right now where I live. No cars are to be out since 4PM and anyone on the road will be given a $500 fine or a year in prison.

As understandable as that punishment sounds, Narwhal since those drivers may injure themselves or any pedestrians as well:

Also, my mom (who's a school bus driver) had a pretty dangerous time on the road today ad luckily got ohm early a few hours ago from work. Her bus literally slid on the road over four times. I really hope that anybody affected by this, including forumers, are wise enough to stay in-doors.

Re: Snow Storm

Post by Count Mario on Sat Feb 09, 2013 1:46 am

Actually, I've been to Florida for the past few summers on vacation too visit my aunt's family. It's a pretty nice place and I'd live in her house in Miami, around where the higher class snobs seemed to live. However, nobody ever goes outside besides me and my cousins though, which is awkward because in NJ you see kids and teens out all the time. I would always walk to the public pool and go to Disney World each summer. But what would ruin my experience most of the time is because of two things. One, my super annoying little cousin who's my aunt's son who literally cries at every little thing that bothers him multiple times every day (I really wish I was kidding or exaggerating when I said this) and the fact that during the summer, I want to stay home most of the time and sometimes be at my friend's houses for a few days. Overall though, I do have fun. I'd still prefer staying home though.

Okay, I'll step off the topic of Florida lol.

I'm actually in the Miami area and it really just depends on where you are. I see kids/teens around all the time.

Anyways, are snow storms really bad or something?

New Jersey is the best state, those of you who aren't me or Count should go home and cry for your states.

Also, I haven't seem to have gotten much snow yet...

Well, you see, it depends.

Do you think that snow covering countless blocks of cars buried in snow all over and freezing over the windshields, roads pelted with snow and hail which are slippery enough to cause the traction of driving cars to move incorrectly and crash, piles of lose snow you'll have to step on which could be loose enough to make you loose your footing, frozen sidewalks which will make you slip and knock your body on the floor helplessly, cold temperatures outside which are bound to make you sick and your tissue numb, sharp winds that can block your range of sight, and the most notably the effort of having to shovel out snow from the roads, parking spots, driveways, and yards sound bad?

I'm not trying to mock you or seem a like jerk, but it can really be hazardous. It doesn't look too bad where I specifically live in the suburbs, but in most of the state it's filled with snow and ice. Also, Kiwi, NJ FTW!

Well I only ask because I've never seen snow and maybe snow storms are like little storms here but I guess I was wrong haha. It's cool man no worries, I'm not offended. Would you compare it to a hurricane?

Re: Snow Storm

In terms of sharp winds and the water/rain being compared to snow, somewhat. Although I think that hurricanes are a bit of a different topic with varied fundamentals. I remember when I was on vacation in the Dominican Republic and there was a hurricane nearby which pretty much flooded everywhere with heavy rainstorms years ago. I had to literally get on my dad's back in he ran through rain and water that was above his feet to our hotel. I know that Florida is vulnerable to harsh storms such as hurricanes though, so I can understand why you asked that.

*Puts hand over Slayer's shoulder* I know. Although to give a more precise answer, I'd say yes. Although I think that hurricanes cause more collateral damage , although that could be somewhat debatable. Maybe if DP wasn't just lurking around the forum, then he could give some testimony and a more precise answer lol.

It's almost at that point where I'm shoveling my driveway, I finish then turn around to see the snow's back up to my knees.
