Dammit people keep this as a discussion about Disney.
The following things are not discussions about Disney:

  • James Woods, unless it's about Hercules.
  • Anything DC Comics related, unless it's in relation to Disney/Marvel.
  • "I hate Disney". If you're gonna say that, at least give reasoning.
Also I accept that Count is the Nintendo guy. That makes me the SEGA guy.

Ok, so what's your favorite Disney movie folks?

Disney channel used to be good with cartoons and good sitcoms, but it's crappy now except with Gravity Falls and Phineas and Ferb.

Re: Disney Discussion

Post by Count Mario on Mon Dec 10, 2012 9:22 pm

I am also a SEGA guy, as well as a Nintendo and Disney guy as previously said. And a Konami guy... and a Square Enix guy... and a Sony platformer guy as of recently... and the superhero/comic guy... and the Heavy Rain guy...

Let's just say that I'm a lot of things. Wink On topic with Disney however, my favorite movie is tied between Toy Story 3 for Pixar and The Hunchback of Notre Dame on the pure Disney side. Although Wreck-It Ralph (When I finally see it) might contend for top spot as well.

Also, this is undeniably the best Disney villain song no matter what you guys bring up (Even if it's Be Prepared, Poor Unfortunate Souls, Friends on the Other Side, etc.):

Hell, I have a list of my favorite Disney movies franchises of over fifty series and I've rewatched all of them!

Spoiler:
1. Fantasia
2. Wreck-It Ralph (At least until I see it)
3. Toy Story
4. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
5. Pinocchio
6. Lilo & Stitch
7. Monsters, Inc.
8. The Incredibles
9. The Emperor’s New Groove
10. Up
11. The Lion King
12. Peter Pan
13. The Nightmare Before Christmas
14. The Jungle Book
15. The Sword in the Stone
16. Hercules
17. Tarzan
18. WALL-E
19. One Hundred and One Dalmatians
20. Finding Nemo
21. Robin Hood
22. A Bug’s Life
23. The Great Mouse Detective
24. Ratatouille
25. Tron
26. Pirates of the Caribbean
27. Treasure Planet
28. Atlantis: The Lost Empire
29. Brother Bear
30. The Black Cauldron
31. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
32. Sleeping Beauty
33. Cinderella
34. Beauty and the Beast
35. Aladdin
36. The Little Mermaid
37. The Princess and the Frog
38. Tangled
39. Pocahontas
40. Mulan
41. Brave
42. Alice in Wonderland
43. Alice in Wonderland 2010
44. Enchanted
45. The Muppets
46. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
47. The Fox and the Hound
48. Lady and the Tramp
49. Bambi
50. Dumbo
51. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
52. The Wind in the Willows
53. The Brave Little Toaster
54. The Rescuers
55. The Aristocats
56. Oliver & Company
57. Meet the Robinsons
58. Chicken Little
59. Bolt

Fantasia's really only on top because it's an artistic masterpiece and it's a bit uber compared to the others. That's why I didn't mention it earlier.

It may sound harsh, but it's the truth for me. 10 years ago, I watched television all the time for original and funny shows. Now, I don't because some of the new cartoons has been filled with silly crap. You know what worry me? Kids watching bad cartoons today. They miss the old-fashioned cartoons.

Whew, I'm a bit of streamed here, lol. Anyway, I admired Pixar for all of their excellent animated films. I cried a lot when watching a certain scene in "UP". I bet I'm not the only one who do that. It's a 3-minutes better love story than Twilight.

I... Wow, I can't help but agree with your first paragraph completely. I mean, I'm not forcing kids to watch what I watch or trying to be a hipster, but that is how I honestly feel nowadays.

And there's a lot of scenes in UP that can make you cry, but I'm willing to bet that you're talking about the opening with Carl and Ellie's life together.

You do realize that kids today are going to be saying the same thing in fifteen years, right? They'll say that their shows were the best, and that the kids of the future's shows are crap. Because the kids shows of any generation are just that.
Kids shows. For that generation.
Not shows made for adults. There ARE cartoons made for kids that adults can enjoy, and cartoons just made for adults period. Watch those. Let the kids of today enjoy their shit without complaining about it, because it's their shit. It's not for you.

If the kids of today enjoy it, well then the cartoons are doing their jobs. Who cares if they suck? How does that affect you?

True. I do meet some older people who have the same thoughts. I guess it's based on our tastes and childhood idols. I dunno. Today, the face of television isn't more pretty than last 10 year ago. It's like COD now. Of course, this is just my opinion.

@Count_Mario, Yup. That's the one. I'm crying in front of my mom, and I was around 15 years old. The scene was a strong emotional one. Crying or Very sad

This is also true. I won't deny that I'm feeling this towards the newer generation, but I'm still tolerant to let them watch what they want to watch. That's why the world's filled with opinions and experiences, because everybody is different person. Still though, there are still plenty of rational things that makes me not to typically adore modern cartoons or media in general for that matter. it's not really because of the whole, "Oh, I remember when shows had this and that." I do believe that when it comes to certain aesthetics that they can be improved.

Take for example The Ultimate Spider-Man on Disney XD. I've read the Spidey comics, watched the 90's show and Spectacular Spider-Man and this was the first show that I honestly disliked. Not because I simply thought it wouldn't live up tot the previous ones, no, I was even defending and giving it a chance during the first few episodes when people were bashing it until I just decided to quit watching it altogether. The humor is forced down your throat in random scenarios, most comparable to the Menippean satire that Family Guy portrays, there is little to no significant character development for Peter or any of his supporting cast that makes you honestly try to care for them, and each episode is pretty much in it's own separate world which I typically despise for animated series trying to have a more continuity/serious tone. In fact, the name should pretty much be changed to The Ultimate Spider-Man and his Amazing S.H.I.E.L.D. Friends because instead of focusing on Spidey's well known solo act, they just cram Marvel characters from left to right into ever episode to promote popularity. but I think the biggest crime is that Peter's character is barely ever explored, and let me be honest with you. I don't truly like Spider-Man, or superheroes for that matter because they have superpowers or things like that. It's because I look up to the people behind the masks, and I could honestly say that this show has failed in terms of accomplishing that.

I'll let more modern kids deal with what they want, that's fine. I recognize that people have different tastes. But it's not always because of nostalgia goggles, otherwise I would care less about Gravity Falls and not like The Amazing Spider-Man over the whole previous Spidey movie trilogy. It affects me, as well as both you and other cartoon fans, because we aren't being satisfied. Being successful with one audience is one thing, but completely disregarding your former one is another that shouldn't be taken lightly. I don't see what's wrong about trying to focus on a general audience of all ages with your programs instead of just appealing to one because it's easier. I try my best to to be blinded by nostalgia and I usually like reboots and newer incarnations better than the previous in fact. However, I can agree that those who simply hate just because it isn't like the older ones is unfair. I'm not labeling my opinion as fact as I respect different perspectives though. So I'll live out my beliefs while they live off of theirs.

Okay, I'm finally done with my long rant. Hope i didn't bore you or anything, I only meant to clarify.
